June 23, 2017 Update:
Next week, the contractor will demobilize and return to the project in early August to allow the aerial utility companies time to install remove old wires and install new ones. Comcast will be working on site next week, followed by Fairport during the month of July. Traffic delays are expected.

June 16, 2017 Update:

Next week, the contractor will be working on a few sewer services on Mountain Road. In addition, drainage work will continue near the Mobil Station and on West Portsmouth Street. Traffic Delays are anticipated.


June 9, 2017 Update:

Early next week, the contractor will be installing a sewer service on Mountain Road. Traffic may be restricted to alternating one way. In the middle of the week, they will begin to install new drainage in the vicinity of the Mobile Gas Station. Traffic will be delayed and lanes reduced to alternating one way on East Side Drive.


June 2, 2017 Update:
Next week, the contractor will be installing sewer services at #5 and #9 Mountain Road. New drainage will be installed on East Side Drive, south of the Mobil Station. Traffic will be restricted to alternating one way in this area. Drainage structures will be upgraded on Eastman Street, between Merrill Park and Quality Cash Market, in advance of paving Eastman Street, which is scheduled for mid-June.

May 26, 2017 Update:
The contractor will be installing drainage on Shawmut Street and in front of the Mobil Gas station next week. Comcast aerial wires will be transferred to the new poles. Shawmut Street will be closed on Wednesday May 31, 2017 from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Detour will be via Cemetery Street. Traffic delays are expected. Drainage improvements will be made on Eastman Street between Quality Cash Market and Merrill Park toward the end of the week. Traffic will be restricted to alternating one way.  

May 19, 2017 Update:
Drainage installation on Shawmut Street and Mountain Road will continue next week. Shawmut Street will be closed to through traffic Monday through Wednesday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The detour will be via Cemetery Street. The Fire Alarm/Traffic Signal Superintendent and Comcast will be transferring the aerial wires to the new poles throughout the project work zone. Traffic delays are expected. Please seek alternative routes if possible.

May 12, 2017 Update:
On Tuesday, May 16th, the contractor will begin to install drainage on Shawmut Street and Mountain Road. Shawmut Street will be closed to through traffic between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, from Tuesday through Friday. Detour will be via Cemetery Street. Unitil will be transferring the aerial wires to the new poles throughout the project work zone. Traffic delays are expected.

May 5, 2017 Update:

Next week, the contractor will continue installing new storm drainage with in the work area. Liberty Utilities will be connecting costomers to the the new gas main along the east side of Mountain Road and East Side Drive. Unitil will begin to install the new poles for the transfer of the areial utility wires. The intersection will operate under flagger control. Traffic delays are expected. Pedestrian traffic on Portsmouth Street, from East Side Drive to Locke Road will be closed.


April 28, 2017 Update:

Shawmut Street will be closed Monday and Tuesday of next week, between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, in order for Liberty Utilities to install the new gas main across Shawmut Street. Traffic will be detoured via Mountain Road and Cemetery Street. Access to the Mobil gas station will remain open. The contractor and Fairpoint Communications will be working on drainage and relocating fiber optic cables on Portsmouth Street. On Wednesday, the contractor will begin installing drainage on East Side Drive, between Eastman Street and Portsmouth Street. The intersection will operate as a four-way stop during work hours. Delays are expected.


April 21, 2017 Update:

Construction is underway and the contractor is focusing on filling slopes either side of Portsmouth Street in advance of Unitil coming in to set their new poles and installation of drainage. The right-hand slip lanes on Portsmouth Street are not open to traffic. Traffic is restricted to a three-lane section. Next week, the gas company will begin installing a new main on East Side Drive and Mountain Road, from Mill Street to a few hundred feet north on Mountain Road. Work will occur between the hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Traffic will be restricted to alternating one-way traffic and delays are expected.
