Parking Enforcement

Parking Sign

Sound parking enforcement is important to the health, safety and economic vitality of the City.  Our dedicated and productive enforcement staff is the heart of our effective parking enforcement program.  A well designed enforcement effort enables the City to maximize its use of the existing parking supply.

Strategic Parking Plan Development
On May 23, 2017, at 7:00 PM in City Council Chambers, the Parking Committee will hold a public forum to discuss revisions to draft recommendations of the Strategic Parking Plan.  All are welcome to attend.  A memorandum summarizing the proposed recommendations, together with a map of proposed parking meter geographies, as well as a pro forma modeling the financial implications of the draft recommendations will be presented.

The City embarked on the process of developing a Strategic Plan for the Parking System in June 2014, and engaged the consultant team of Nelson Nygaard / Desman Associates to develop a comprehensive strategic parking plan for the City.  The strategic plan, together with a staff report from the City Administration detailing specific recommendations and an implementation schedule, was presented to the City Parking Committee on June 27, 2016.  Public forums were held to discuss the initial recommendations and solicit public input related thereto on August 18, 2016 and September 8, 2016.  Since that time, the Parking Committee has been reviewing the initial recommendations and public comment.  As part of that process, the Parking Committee has modified and discarded several of the original recommendations.

Once the committee completes its review, it will forward the strategic plan to the City Council for final review.

For more information about the strategic parking plan, please contact Matthew R. Walsh, Director of Redevelopment, Downtown Services & Special Projects, at or (603) 225-8570.
