Agricultural Resources Survey
History
Barns and related agricultural outbuildings once dominated the landscape around Concord. While many have been lost to fire, weather, demolition, relocation, and general deterioration, Concord is fortunate in that there are still many fine specimens scattered around the city. Although few remain in agricultural use, most owners have put a great deal of care and effort into ensuring the basic structure remains stable. The 19th century gable-front barns, and early 20th century gambrel-roof dairy barns, blacksmith shops, milk sheds, poultry houses, corn cribs, hog houses, and more, included here are those that stood on at least ten acres or land and still conveyed the historic agricultural setting.
